MUMBAI

Danced with cockroaches and rats the size of my head down Colaba Causeway after last round at Leo P’s. Bought another book, ‘Maximum City – Bombay lost and found’. It’s sooo good. It’s somewhat of a dodgy home copied kind of version I have, with lines hardly readable and the occasional missing page. Didn’t even want it in the first place, But dude chased me down the streets and just wouldn’t back off ‘till I finally caved in and paid 300 rupees!! I know, the hustle’s on me…but I’m glad he did. The pages smell like Indian streets in the summer. Crowded, crumbling, and dirty. Sweat and spices. Piss, trash, love, death and betel stained smiles.

Saw a movie in Eros theatre. Complete with drug action, plenty of violence and heartbreaking love stories, Bad ass cops and heroes suddenly bursting into singing and dancing while still retaining their cool!! Awesome!! Walked up Marine Drive to Chowpatty Beach after. Sat in the sands and garbage drinking chai and watched the kids playing in the toxic waters…

Now blogging…next up is bye bye Mumbai on a night train to Goa…peace out!!

MANTRA BOX

INDIA pt. 2

Rode camels under hot blazing desert sun by the Pakistan border. Slept in the smokey glow of dying camp fires. Hotel manager sent lukewarm beers though he promised charras, couldn’t help feeling a bit cheated. Climbed the 3500 and then some steps up shatrunjaya hill in Palitana. Bare feet, melting white marble and sandstone burning in the lazy high Gujarat noon. Prayed with the monks in stunning old Jain temple village on the hill top. Smoked home rolled beedies with temple renovation craftsmen. Bought a digital dual mantra mantra box on the way down to keep my mind at peace all the way to Mumbai…

WORMING IT UP IN INDIA

Delhi, shit!! 4 days down. Drank stale beer from tea pots under the stars in dodgy bar on a Paharganj roof top. Bought a book, ‘The jaina path of purification’ and were stalked by pregnant toothless beggars in Connaught Place. Got lost and crowd handled in the side street bazaars and were chased away by laughing rupee hungry kids. Just left Jodhpur the blue city in Marwar, the land of Death, on my way out on the edge of the desert to learn the Rajput ways of the sword….
